Frequently Asked Questions
A: If you have a desire to go to bible school, be trained for ministry, or just want to learn more about the bible, you should apply. WSM offers a variety of options for students of all ages.
A: Although our courses are college level, most non-traditional students do well because they are motivated. We recognize that many of our students may have a break in time since they last attended school. Our faculty are approachable and willing to work with you to see that you overcome any obstacles that may hinder your progress.
A: Before you can register for classes, you must first be admitted as a new student. Once you are admitted, your application will be forwarded to ORU and be maintained by the School of LifeLong Learning.
A: High School students may take classes at WSM and receive advanced standing for future college attendance. If you desire to become a resident student at ORU, you can get a headstart and take class for a lower tuition rate at WSM, then transfer to the Oklahoma City campus. It is wise to consult with an academic advisor to see if the classes taken at WSM will fit into your decided major if you plan to attend a college or university other than ORU. If you are under 18 when you fill out an admissions application, please attach a letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor and a signature from a parent or guardian granting permission.
A: Books must be paid for by the first night of class. Because tuition at WSM is comparatively low, a payment for tuition should be made by the end of the add/drop period. A portion of student tuition goes to ORU to cover the administration of the program. A payment plan where the tuition is distributed over three payments is available for a small fee.
A: Because federal and state financial aid is not available for the ORU Bible Institute program, the Westmoreland School of Ministry desires to keep tuition rates low. Scholarships offered by WSM are limited. However, it is the desire of WSM to develop additional scholarships for those who desire to train for ministry, but have a limited income. To apply for a scholarship, a student is required to fill out a scholarship application and demonstrate financial need. Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis for two semesters provided the student maintains at least a "B" in all classes. Students are encouraged to seek financial aid and support from their local church.
