What is Westmoreland School of Ministry? 
 
In joint relationship with the Oral Roberts University School of LifeLong Education, Westmoreland School of Ministry is a unique program designed to provide training in biblical studies and practical ministry for those who choose not to leave the area to attend a traditional bible school. Whether you are a Pastor, lay leader, or just interested in taking clases for the work of the church or personal ministry, WSM is for you. Courses offered at WSM are developed by Oral Roberts University and are taught by local Master's degreed faculty. Completed coursework may be applied toward advanced standing in one of ORU's fully accredited bachelor's degree programs. more....
 

Spring 2012 Course Offerings

  

DBIB 400 Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics)

A study of the problems and methods of Biblical interpretation, including the factors of presuppositions, grammar, literature and historical context, and the appropriate handling of various kinds of literature found in the Bible.

DTHE 410 Theology and Practice of Spiritual Warfare 

A newly developed class emphasizing the authority of the believer and the practical application of the Word of God and prayer as spiritual weapons of warfare.

Thursdays @ 6:30-9:30 PM

 

DPRM 317 Principles of Biblical Counseling 

An introduction to basic concepts and procedures of Biblical Counseling, its’ purpose is to acquaint the student with a Biblically oriented approach to helping people. The knowledge and skills gained may then be integrated into the student's personal counseling style.

DBIB 120 New Testament Survey (Seminar Format)

An examination of the New Testament and of the historical, social, economic, and religious background out of which Christianity arose.

3 Weekend sessions. Fridays @ 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM; Saturdays @ 10:00 AM-6:00 PM

DPRM 320 Ministry Practicum

Students pursuing a certificate program must complete a one credit practicum. The purpose of this ministry practicum is to provide the student with practical experience in ministerial responsibilities and in a broad range of roles performed in ministry. Trainees gain competence in essential areas of local church ministry. The practicum and location will be determined by the student and the Director of Academic Affairs.

Admissions
Applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2012 Term for new students. A one-time $25.00 non-refundable application fee is required.
Alternatively, you can register on this site. Simply go to the Admissions Application page.
 
Registration
The Spring Term Registration Form may be downloaded and mailed directly to WSM. Students may also register by phone or online at the Course Registration page.
Tuition and Cost

Comparable to community college tuition, each 3 credit course is $210.00 per term. Students may audit courses at a lower tuition rate. Payment plan and scholarship information is available on the Financial Information page. The one credit Ministry Practicum course is $70.00.

 

Administration

ORU maintains admission applications and official transcripts for each student. Students completing classes at WSM are eligible for advanced standing in one of ORU's fully accredited college degree programs. Credit may be transferred to another institution or used for ministerial credentials depending on the major or the requirements of the program. Classes at WSM are taught by Master's degreed faculty.

 

Books

The college level curriculum is developed and maintained by ORU. Texts and curriculum materials are ordered and distributed by WSM and are on average $50.00 per class.
